Which therapy is right for me?

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic therapy helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences, unconscious mind and impulses. It helps you to recognise what is keeping you stuck and gain awareness of your internal responses to familiar situations that you tend to repeat throughout life.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy can be approached in two ways:

1) Time-limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

We agree on 12 to 16 sessions according to the issues you present and set the timeline to work through a specific issue.

Sessions

Sessions last 50 minutes once a week.

2) Open-ended Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

There is no set date to end the process, and we will be looking at all aspects of your life to gain a good sense of why you are currently experiencing some of your own issues or struggles.

Elements and patterns of your unconscious mind surface and we explore the meaning of these thoughts, feelings and beliefs. It helps you find the knots and gradually understand some of these early blueprints that are still guiding and defining your current relationships and life experiences. Once you consciously understand these patterns, you can start unravelling the strands, gain awareness of your way of dealing with situations and move on with your life.

Sessions

The sessions last 50 minutes, once or twice per week, according to our agreement on the frequency and intensity of the work.

Counselling

Counselling; talking therapies are not based on someone giving you suggestions, advice or their own opinion. However, as a therapist, I might share some information or explore available resources to assist your process. You get help and support while finding your own solutions which may lead you to a space and time you feel ready to make effective changes in your life or find new ways of being and dealing with your existing problems.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months, or a longer course that lasts for several months.

It can occasionally take a number of sessions before you start to notice progress, but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support offered during the sessions.

Sessions

The sessions last for 50 minutes once per week.

RTT

RTT® is a therapeutic approach that uses powerful, evidence-based techniques to provide people with the tools they need to make positive change. This personalized approach works with clients to help them reframe any negative beliefs, values, habits and emotions – many of which they have carried with them since childhood.

Unlike traditional hypnotherapy, RTT® does not rely solely on positive reinforcement. RTT® goes beyond this and focuses on identifying how, where and when unhelpful beliefs and behaviours were formed. It then utilises the leading scientific principles of neuroplasticity to enable the creation of new neural pathways in the mind.

The work is based on an initial consultation where we identify the issues presented followed by 1 to 3 sessions where we will use Hypnotherapy to achieve the steps and phases involved in this work.

Sessions

Sessions last around 2 ½ hrs.

You will be provided with an audio recording which you will need to listen to every day for at least 21 days after your treatment.

Hypnosis

Clinical hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to induce states of relaxation during which suggestions can be made to the unconscious mind to bring about the desired change. Many psychological issues can be addressed, such as stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, fears and phobias. It can also be efficient for many physical conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, tinnitus and pain. Smoking, weight loss and habits like nail biting also respond well to a course of clinical hypnotherapy.

Consultations are tailor-made for individuals, and hypnosis is personalised, recorded and shared to listen to at home.

Sessions

A course of 4 to 6 sessions will be prescribed according to the issues presented.

Sessions last 60 minutes.

Loss & Grief Group

Grief can be a very lonely experience, but you don’t need to be alone with your loss. in the group for Loss and grief, we most typically spend the time sharing our experiences in a confidential and non-judgmental space. A group is formed, and we work together, even though we experience loss and bereavement at different stages. It is a therapeutic group where the focus is on our personal experience of loss and the impact experienced in our lives. A commitment to stay with the group for a minimum amount of time is expected.

The group meets fortnightly, and  is formed of 6 to 8 people maximum.

Sessions

The sessions last 90 minutes.

Men's Group
"People don’t realise how often men are experiencing a lack of intimacy, and the only place they can experience that intimacy is through sex. We have created a society where men are afraid to be vulnerable to each other, to be sensitive to each other, to care, to love each other.”    Trevor Noah

It is common to identify how men are not truly getting a sense of connection. They are struggling with the lack of companionship, and intimacy, of being in a space where they can share anything. The expectation with the men’s group is to change the conversation and create a safe space to feel supported and listened to. A safe space to be able to become vulnerable, to share their struggles and frustrations, to experience joy, to embrace our human capacity to suffer, to love, share, and to have fun without moving away from challenges, intimacy and real connections.
